Releases & Reviews

Jaguar's brand-redefining EV ditches burl wood and chrome for minimalist horizontal lines, brass-finished trim, and a long console that bisects the four-seat cabin. A camera-fed digital rearview mirror sits at the base of the windshield, though the central touchscreen is surprisingly small. The full reveal comes October 6.

The twin-turbo 3.0 liter inline-six makes 420 horsepower (313 kW) and 468 pound-feet (635 Nm), beating the old Hemi V8 and reaching 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. But at 4,741 pounds (2,148 kg), the Charger feels every bit as vast as it measures, with light, vague steering.

Technology, Market Data & Analysis

Americans paid an average of $49,855 for a new vehicle in July, a 2026 peak that still trails December's $50,612 record. Full-size pickups remain the priciest segment at $66,980, up 2.8% year over year. Incentive spending fell for a second straight month.

A security researcher picked apart Leonardo's SignalTrace, which claims to pair plate readers with signals from phones, tire-pressure sensors, and even pet microchips. His verdict: the antennas miss most tire-sensor frequencies, and microchips read only at centimeters. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth remain the real exposure.

Car Culture

On Jay Leno's Garage, Tesla's design chief shows off the roadster he penned at GM under Bob Lutz, now carrying a Mallett-built LS2 swap making 400 horsepower (298 kW) against the stock 177 (132 kW). The extra 150 pounds (68 kg) barely upsets its 53/47 balance.

The 1958 Bluebird Highwayman launched at £870 (roughly $24,653 today), making it the cheapest thing on the road you could sleep in and, eventually, the world's best-selling motorhome. America got it as the Sunbeam Funwagon, where its tiny footprint never caught on.

Miscellaneous

Ford showed dealers a Mustang sedan prototype roughly the size of a Porsche Panamera, reportedly badged Mach 4, promising sub four second 0-60 acceleration and a starting price under $40,000. Sources describe a hybrid powertrain, possibly a hybrid V8. Ford hasn't sold a sedan since the 2020 Fusion.

The recall covers 508,354 Camry Hybrids from 2025 and 2026 fitted with the 7.0 inch instrument cluster, where a software fault can leave the screen blank and disable the speedometer, turn signals, and hazard lights. Owners will be notified by October 5 for a free fix.

The Curated by Cadillac program opens up 160 exterior finishes and 44 interior colors, with each order pulled off the line and hand-finished in the same Michigan facility that builds the Celestiq.

Streetwear label Kith dropped the E60 M5's 5.0 liter V10, worth 500 horsepower (373 kW) in the sedan, into a rotisserie-restored 2000 X5 with a six-speed manual, debuting at Monterey Car Week.

The naturally aspirated 4.0 liter flat-six musters just 502 horsepower (375 kW) in a $300,000 supercar, yet the 9,000 rpm GT3 set MotorTrend handling and braking records anyway.

TVR's all-aluminum flat-plane V8 made 350 horsepower (261 kW) and 320 pound-feet (434 Nm) in a 2,425 pound (1,099 kg) coupe, and British cars now trade between £20,000 and £40,000 (about $27,000 to $54,000).

Riding on Stellantis' new STLA One platform with gas, hybrid, and electric options, the front-drive crossover starts under $40,000 and finally gives a one-model brand something to sell besides the Pacifica.

A tie-up with AutoParts.com lets you search dealer inventory for factory replacement parts and get them the same day, with an automatic refund when the counter turns out not to have the piece.

Doug DeMuro finds the reborn C-HR is now fully electric with nearly 340 horsepower (254 kW) and standard all-wheel drive, a vast leap over the old 144 horsepower (107 kW) car he still isn't sold on.
